Heather Buchanan is best known for her weekly column in The Independent newspaper in East Hampton, Kiss & Tell, which won a New York Press Association award for Best Humor Column. Described as, “the girl next door, just better,” Heather chronicles the roller coaster ride of relationships, covering everything from break up sex to dating tax deductions. She also covers arts and entertainment for the Independent with theater reviews and celebrity profiles.
Her insider knowledge infuses the feature lifestyle stories she creates for Best Life Magazine, Hampton Sports, and Hamptons.com. She has also written for travel guides such as Fodor’s and AOL Digital City and adds a creative flair to her real estate and design features for Profile Magazine and Hamptons Cottages & Gardens. Recently, Podarama.com has launched Heather’s highly successful Kiss and Tell podcast, and Plum TV has pegged her as host for their love, sex, and relationship segment, Under The Covers.
After earning an undergraduate and graduate degree in Communications from Northwestern University, Heather produced her first film, “Victimless Crimes,” a thriller about art thieves starring Craig Bierko and Debra Sandlund. She moved to Los Angeles and produced a comedy about women at a bachelorette party, “Live Nude Girls” which starred Kim Cattrall, Dana Delaney, and Olivia D’Abo, proving to be a true precursor to Sex And The City.
After a stint in Hollywood, Heather returned to Sag Harbor, New York in search of Victorian architecture and repressed men. Her feature film writing and directing debut, “On the Rocks,” which one reviewer called, “deliciously wacky, hazardously hilarious, and as disarming as the topless Venus de Milo,” was filmed on location in the Hamptons. The comedy follows the all but lost weekend of two close friends who survive with coffee, cocktails, a unique way to enjoy chocolate, and their own cable television show.
When she’s not covering the social scene you may find her perfecting her peach pie or working on a new witchcraft spell.
